Shadows

Alone I sit here waiting among the shadows in the dark.

Waiting for a glimmer of light to touch my soul, a light

So intense and bright that it chases all the shadows away.

But so far that day has not yet come.

Alone I sit here waiting among the shadows in the dark.

Days turn to night, night to days.

It has been so long since I have seen any light.

Alone I sit here waiting among the shadows in the dark.

I have matches and a candle I will make the light.

A spark, a small flare, a flame I have light.

I no longer sit here alone waiting among the shadows in the dark.

Now I can seem them and they can see me.

Hissing and glaring they are closing in.

The flame is so bright but the light is to dim

An aroma of candle wax and a once lit wick fill the air

Alone I sit here waiting among the shadows in the dark.

Waiting for a glimmer of light to touch my soul, a light

so intense and bright that it chases all the shadows away.

But so far that day has not yet come.
